TROOP 483 FIRST CLASS EMPHASIS PROGRAM
With our new Scouts joining the Troop there is no time to waste in getting them started. Having a well planned First Class Emphasis program in place with leadership from trained adults and older Scouts, giving our new Scouts a strong start in Boy Scouts by building a strong foundation with their Scout skills towards ranks and merit badges.

Our goal is for the Scout to achieve the rank of First Class within 12 to 18 months after joining the Troop. This is a sign that the Scout has mastered the fundamentals of Scouting and can begin to start the process of learning to lead The First Class Emphasis Program is run by an assistant Scoutmaster with senior Boy Scouts called Troop Guides. Adult advisors are assigned to support the program. The adult advisor team is made up of both experienced leaders and newly trained leaders. The Troop Guides and Advisors plan out the requirements across the calendar of meetings, campouts, and events Scout to Tenderfoot
As a Tenderfoot the Scout continues to work on rank requirements at Troop Meetings and at Troop Campouts. The Scouts will attend Summer camp where they will take the First Class Emphasis program along with a few merit badges. The First Aid and Swimming MB’s are encouraged for the new Scouts the first year.

There is a lot to Scouting besides earning rank, and some Scouts take longer to earn First Class, than others. That does not mean they are not benefiting from the program. The leaders understand this and will work with each boy .
