Many of our new and older Scouts of Troop 483 spent the weekend camping with beautiful weather while hiking around CIMA this weekend making our way to the top of Sentinel Peak which overlooks El Rancho Cima. We camped in the meadow close to the trail head of the Devils Backbone. All of our new Scouts did great for their first Troop campout and hike which was about seven miles. The Scouts were able to knock out several rank requirements and almost all completed their first Scoutmaster conference earning their Scout Rank.
We had several new parents to the Troop join us on the campout. We had a great time getting to know each other having allot of fun and sharing some great meals and cobblers thanks to our Grub Master Colleen and her many helping hands. According to everyone there, it was a fantastic campout. Our SPL and his assistants showed good leadership and were a big reason many of our newbies earned their first rank of Scout.
