This is the new Annual Health and Medical Record form. It is
replacing the current Class 1, 2 and 3 health forms.
The major differences are -
Everything is now in one place.
It is a fillable, and savable, pdf form.
For activities lasting over 72 hours a medical evaluation by a
licensed health-care provider is now mandatory.
In the medical evaluation [...]
Discipline

Discipline is a part of leadership, and a good leader keeps that in mind. It isn’t always pleasant, but it is necessary, and if done in a spirit of love and concern, all are better because of it.
Sometimes we need to be reminded that there are two reasons why a leader must discipline those he [...]
A Scout Is Obedient
Posted in Scouting in Life on January 25, 2009 | 1 Comment »
Funny story. When I was teaching my older son’s 5th grade Webelos den the Scout Law five years ago, they would get stuck. A believer in word play for memorization, I reminded them all they were ‘kind of obedient’ to get them over the hump and so they would always remember what comes after Kind. [...]
Principles of Leave No trace

Posted in Scouting as an Adult, Scouting in Life on January 22, 2009 | 4 Comments »
Hmmm… We all tell the scouts to live by the scout oath, but sadly, I’m afraid we don’t always practice what we preach. While I’m certainly in far better physical condition than I was two years ago, I have a very long way to go. What is important is that they see us trying.
How many [...]
A Positive Attitude
Posted in Scoutmaster Minute on January 18, 2009 | 2 Comments »
A good positive attitude can truly change the way you approach life, and your future. Let me illustrate with a short story.
A few years ago, there was a wildlife organization out west that offered a bounty of $5000 for wolves captured alive.
Two friends, Sam and Jed, decided to make their fortune. Day and night, they [...]
Confessions Of A Scouterholic
Posted in Ramblings on January 17, 2009 | 3 Comments »
I, Colleen, am a scouterholic. It has been two days since my last meeting.
To set the stage, I’ll fill you in on the background of what has led to this confession. I’ve been nursing, what I’ll lovingly call the Houston Crud (aka a cold caused by daily shifts between 40 & 80 degree highs) since [...]
